I've been checking for updates of this thread due to my own ongoing experiences with HMRC,any advice or experiences appreciated.
The revenue are calling debts in,& I recently learned that they have instructed DCAs to chase debtors for them.
I got the bill at Christmas & called them in the hope of getting a manageable payment plan arranged.I offered to pay a reasonable amount (£500 per month) & was told that they would not accept this & if I did not pay £1000 per month that they would take summary proceedings against me & file for bankruptcy. As I work from home this would not only result in homelessness but also unemployment.
Shame that the Revenues Dave Hartnett has conveniently retired after the Vodafone/Goldman Sachs/News International etc. scandal,I would have happily taken him out for a cosy meal to discuss how much tax I should not have to pay..

The HMRC are oblidged to accept anything you offer to pay. If you are struggling financially, they HAVE to accept what YOu can afford. If you make an offer to pay something this has to be accepted.

If you owe more than £750 they can petition you for bankruptcy, anything under this amount and they cannot. Worth noting, is that the sum of £750 must be construed of a FIXED amount. It cannot be that you owe £500 and they impose for example £400 in charges to take the sum over the £750 threshold. I hope this helps.

hmrc / their dcas can be a bit tricky, might put up a template of what i used i may have put one up but don't remember, the dcas chasing thin air have left me alone

http://www.getoutofdebtfree.org/forum/v ... 08&t=35935

this alledged debt was was only the fine component... i've stopped filing 2 years ago and will continue never to file again....
i've not earned anything anyway and neither has anyone else

-----

will put what i've used for hmrc....

and another option:
http://www.getoutofdebtfree.org/forum/v ... 04&t=39616

hmrc sometimes sends updated fines, but no more DCAs

and if they do get another i will bill hmrc and bill any new DCA thats starts

so far so good
