Nat west send me whisky, chocolates, cake ... etc

Postby kittiebelle » Mon Jun 27, 2011 8:50 pm

Oh Lummy, I feel reaaly confused! I recently posted that nat west had apologised about the number of phone calls and admitted that they had been 'in excess of the situation'. They said they would send me a gift by way of apology. I rreckoned on a pen or a watch or some such crap ... which i was just going to send back ...

...got home today and there was a parcel on my doorstep. It was a hamper. I opened it as, sometimes, my lovely sister sends me foodhampers. Inside was 2 bottles of whisky, a years supply of chocolate, cakes, biscuits, coffee, crisps etc ...

I'm trying to keep my husband off the whisky as i still think that by accepting it, i might be shooting myself in the foot so to speak. Why would they be doing this ?? Banks are tite fisted shisesters!! I feel really thrown by this.

Is it worth my pursuing a harrasement claim with them ?? How would i go about it ??

(also got a really nasty reply from council about ctax in the post, so struggling to stay off the chocs and whisky myself rite now) :!:

How bizarre, no sensible advice to offer, enjoy the choccies

i suppose it depends on whether you think that's adequate compensation for the harassment, if not you could write & thank them and politely tell them it's not good enough :?:

We saw a thick woman at the Council offices today, we've been trying to sort something out for 3 months, and this woman couldn't even understand a letter sent by her own manager, and was giving us incorrect information - we knew more than she did

Well clearly you have rattled some cages somewhere! :) If it was me I would still send it back to them though as I would see it at as an attempt at bribery to make a possible problem for them go away. If they were really sorry they wouldn't have caused the problem in the 1st place. You could also raffle it off or something at work and raise some money for charity but make sure you make them aware that you are not accepting their gift upon the basis of settlement and you hold them liable should you proceed with legal action against them. Remember also, these Banks have their "public image" to think about and I would imagine it's a bit of a PR exercise on their part as well as the entire Banking industry would be affected by any adverse ruling in court, so yet another chink in the armour for the little guy and a "jolly good rodgering" by the media. The choice is yours but do what you feel is right. That's all that matters at the end of the day.

your hamper is fanatstic news, on two counts, 1) its a total admission of guilt on their part and 2) chocolates and cakes are always welcome :D

Enjoy, lol and tell them you'll bill them for the rest they owe you in "damages" and "bribery".

(not suggesting this btw)

forgot something, telll them you accept their initial deposit on what they owe you and the remainder (xxxxxxxxxXX) remains payable

Thanks for your replies. Wish I could share it with you all.
I have written to them saying that the 'gift' constitutes unsolicited goods and I will be donating it to a 'charitable cause' ( my husband's stomach) !! and that it in no way constiutes settlement, or dissuades me from pursuing any action against them for damages caused by their harrasement of me.
Its a cheap bribe, considering the Harrison v MBNA/Link Case.
