Natwest and old employer

Postby hdjmings1 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 1:44 pm

My other half use to work for her dad (old employer) and had an account with natwest, 1 year ago i did the letters with natwest and the account was £1000 over drawn and as normal it went down the normal debt collector route, only her dad has made a mistake and paid some £450 into that account even tho natwest had closed the account,

So does any one know how we could get this £450 sent back to the company, or does any one know what i could put into a letter to make them put the money back to the company???

Would thus be counted as theft as the money belongs to the company and not come from my other half as a payment???

I think you should count it as lost and then if you recover it it would be a bonus. My partner had a similar problem the other year only for a third of the amount which was paid by BACS and before the account was closed.
There would be no harm in the company sending a notice to NatWest explaining their error and requesting a refund on the basis that the payee had informed them the account was closed and therefore should not have been accepted.
Perhaps others may have some more constructive advice.
