Budget Insurance

Postby eddiemc10 » Tue Mar 20, 2012 9:10 pm

I had a policy with Budget and decided to downsize my car, it was a lower CC and two insurance groups lower. Budget decided that insurance groups don't count and charged me an extra 50% of my premium to change the vehicle. After many phone calls and letters of complaint I decided to go elsewhere at a much reduced premium. Then the bombshell arrived. Despite paying a 20% deposit and two months premiums the bill that arrived was 27% more than was outstanding. Now we all live in the real world and in that real world you pay for what you get despite contracts (unfair ones) or verbal agreements not that there was any.

I have written on several occasions to Budget and indeed their CEO ( who ignored me) but they are sticking to their incredible high cancellation charges. Obviously I will have to complain to the FSA as I do not believe I am being treated fairly and to the Financial Ombudsman. But before I do so would anyone have any other ideas?

The debt has been passed to CARS who also ignore my letters and continue to harass me.

All ideas would be appreciated.

Hi there
Just wondered how you got on with CARS. They are very persistent. I've done 3 letters and sent them a handful of Bills. Their last letter is threatening court, bailiffs etc because "I'm ignoring them"!!??

scare tacticks they cant get bailifs till you been to court and there is every chance they would loose there as well. BILL them again or leave it this time and see what happens. the choice is yours

Did the three letters (thanks for the advice) and not heard a thing. I am expecting another assault from them very soon.

Hi there,

Just a little tip, obviously once you bill them it is going to be over a £1000 which is great because, you can give all the DCA's a taste of their own medicine. Once you have had no reply to your bill, send them a nice letter informing them that unless payment is made within whenever you will get a Winding Up Order. Now some might just cough up where others will think your bluffing, they are the kind I like best   because I have and I will, as some have found to their cost.

Hmmm I think a winding up order would fall flat on its face, however, sensible billing amounts WILL work. I have had a problem with Hastings using my card details in recent weeks, and have written to them. Once I have won that case, and received my money for the invoice/bill I sent them, I will post it up. The best thing to do is keep things to a reasonable level. A small claims court will look upon it more favourably as I have said in numerous previous posts. As Ceylon said to the OP, you cant be served by bailiffs until something has been to court. Its all scare tactics as well all know. Get them in tactit and then bill them for a sensible amount if they persist.
