I have no idea who wrote it. I had an audio tape of native american chants yonks ago and this was on it but I never forgot this particular one. Glad you like it too.

Here is another one from the same tape that is written on to my heart.
Keep me centred as I walk
On the Earth, friendly spirit
Keep my footsteps on the ground
Though my songs reach to the sky
For the strength to exist in this world
But not be of it
For a vision of the truth
And a dream that does not die
For these things I pray
That my actions will speak loudly
And I bring to the Earth
A deep caring in my heart
With my hands as I dig
And I scatter seeds a plenty
I only hope to see
What i help to bring to birth
