It's all going on on my road today. The neighbours have got the flags out and someone has decorated his pick up truck so it looks like a float, it's quite a pro job.
I'm looking out of the window at all the frivolity but, I feel like a Royal stick in the mud. I have nothing against the Royal family, in fact I used to work for one of them, the Queen's cousin, Lord Montagu of Beaulieu. Usually I would be the one out there organising a street party, however, I just feel outraged at how the powers that be are attempting to 'trick us' into stepping back into line.
There is nothing to celebrate. This country, along with the rest of the world, is going down the shitter. Do you really think that it's a coincidence that we won the Olympics bid the same year Her Majesty celebrates her Diamond Jubilee?
This is a time when there is a lot of public unrest and people are starting to question the system and the ones in power, this is dangerous to the ones who attempt to place themselves in authority.
So, what can they do to calm us down? Put us back in our boxes? Distract us from what's really going on?
What do we Brits love most? A party, a right Royal knees up. Guaranteed to distract us from all the crap going on behind the scenes. What with the Jubilee and the Olympics, this summer will be banging. No time to question the fact that we are on the verge of an economic shut down, no time to apportion blame, we are too busy celebrating how great Britain is.
Well, not me, not this year.
Rant over. Maybe I'd better go out and hold the ladder for my next door neighbour whilst he hangs his bunting, the fresh air might calm me down.
