A4V Question.

Postby thealchemist » Tue Apr 10, 2012 4:33 pm

I have just watched with interest the video by ceylon on A4V, and would like to try this with my water company.

However, I have got the bill out and it has no giro credit slip, it is merely a letter/statement showing monthly direct debit amounts which says that because I pay by DD I need do nothing.

So, my question is, how do I go about A4v with them given this information???

Laffey, are you paying the bill by Direct Debit? if you are then you will not get a bill as such, its more of a statement of what went out of your account last 1/4 and how much will go out on a given date for the current 1/4.

I have told my Water company to stop attempting to take payment from me by direct debit (Rescinded my permission for them to use the Direct Debit currently in force) and they assured me the next correspondence would be a bill in three months time, I asked will it have a Bank Giro Credit slip attached and the Lady said yes.

Once you are no longer paying by direct debit they then have to ask you to pay and in doing so would send a Bank Giro credit slip on the bottom of the bill.

I hope this makes sense to you.

Best regards from Dave

Hi and thanks for the reply, yes I have paid them for years by direct debit.

I will cancel the direct debit and speak to them to ask them to bill me.

Do you really think it will work??

Hi all, I am trying this also but when I told them I was cancelling my direct debit they said they would send me a payment card, I said I wanted to pay with my debit card over the phone and to send me a bill but again all I got was a statement. So I've emailed them to send me the full bill for the year so I'm hoping this will have a credit slip on. So I won't pay until this happens so I too am thinking that if I don't pay them they have to send this with a slip on.

Save yourself a phone call/letter - my experience is when you cancel your direct debit within a few days you get a bill for the whole lot with a convenient BGC attached
