Citylink Late Toll Invoices turned to Infringement Notices

Postby sianneh » Fri Jun 01, 2012 3:05 pm

Hi

I am new here and hoping I am able to have some assistance in standing for my rights in this country.

I have had an etag (no longer used as I realised what a scam City Link is) but they were slow in updating it so there were trips I had gone and not paid for. They give you 3 days to buy a pass and I have always done so.

CityLink have now sent these to Civic Compliance landing me in about $800 worth of fines.

CityLink refuse to do anything about these or accept any proof I offer, as the situation "is now out of their hands".

I have confirmed with CityLink that there is no such thing as a "contract to agree to pay" with them and nothing is signed.

Recently I found out they backdated invoices and sent them to my old address (even though they had sent me more recent things to new address) my ex housemates have thrown these out.

I was wondering if anyone can assist me in hopefully successfully disputing and coming out intact with these please.

I also don't understand why CityLink even exists - what else do our taxes go on!

I got a speeding fine in the mail yesterday, and it came from Civic Compliance Victoria, so I decided to have a look into who they are, you might find this very interesting...

http://www.exfacie.com/?q=civic_compliance_victoria_explained

And while I'm at it, what does everyone else make of this? They are not even a legitimate company, would you still send the 3 letters to them requesting a contract, or some sort of evidence?

I should explain my situation a little further to clarify, as I've obviously done this process several times with various banks/credit cards/dca's, however recently I crossed the country and moved to Victoria, and finding work (well, getting ready to start a business more like it) was quite difficult at first. An opportunity came up to work as a Protective Services Officer (basically a policeman at the train stations to protect them at night).

At first I was quite opposed to the idea of working for the police after finding out all the stuff that's been going on that the general public don't know about. Then it occurred to me that could be useful to go through the training (it's virtually identical to how the Victoria Police are trained, and I'm at the Victoria Police Academy for 3 months during training), as they cover the law, as well as self defence and gun training, which I thought could all be very useful (particularly more knowledge as to how they are training the police and what they teach them about the law!).

Plus, my situation started to get a little more desperate, and I needed to get some money from somewhere.

So my question is, under these circumstances do you think I should still fight them on the penalty notice, or have I put myself into a position where I should just abide by their rules (for now at least, I don't plan on doing this permanently, that's for sure.)?

And what do you think would be the best route of attack?

It really boils my blood that these pricks hide themselves behind entity after entity and think they can get away with stealing our hard earned money.

For the record, I copped a $153 fine for allegedly going 54km per hour in a 50kph zone, and I'm pretty sure it was done by a fixed camera, there is no officer named on the fine.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Mick

That's what I'm also wondering mick.

I cannot find any information disputing fines. It's almost like people just sit back and pay them which i don't want to do before knowing what basis and my rights.

If anyone could help direct me I would appreciate it so much
