Just starting out and a bit worried. Any advice appreciated.

Postby OinkyPig » Tue Apr 10, 2012 8:47 pm

Hi All,

Being pursued by Vanquis, who have said they've passed my details to Lowell in Leeds, although I have recieved another letter from Vanquis today (which I haven't opened).

They should have been able to find me as I am quite careful and don't bother applying for any credit anymore. It's quite a new address and the alleged debt dates back to about two years ago. I'm not on the electoral role or in the phone book. My bank have my address, but I thought they only 'shared' my data under special circumstances.

Either way, they found me about a month ago. They want about £2.5k. I suspect they may have breached DPA in tracing me, so I'm tempted to use ANR stickers. I've had no phone calls and they don't have my email address.

What do people think?

Many thanks,

OP.

Tempting, but I suppose I could never be 100% sure. They have found my address somehow. Can they take legal action if I don't acknowledge them? What's best - ignore completely, or ANR stickers?

If they don't hear from you, you may get another letter but if you ANR it then they could go away and not even bother you

So, I ANR'd about 4 or 5 letters from Vanquis. This weekend I got a letter from a company called Marshall Haines. I haven't opened it, but I have searched the return address postcode BA4 4YF. The letter will be threatening bailiffs etc no doubt.

As they have persisted to this point and almost 5 months have past since their letters started, does anyone have any advice? Should I continue to ANR, or should I engage with them now? By way of background, I'm in rented property and will most likely be leaving the country in about a year. I think a credit check by the letting agents when I moved in may have put them onto me.

All advice is much appreciated.

rather than worry open it carefully with a knife if you dont like what you see tape it up and ANR it, if it is threatening anything you can then deal with it but you will not know unless you look but the choice is yours you can just ANR if you want

So, I've continued to ANR these letters and now I've received one from Mackenzie Hall, with a return postcode of ML4 3WU - haven't opened it. I wonder if my evasiveness has led them to selling it on again - is this what they do? If so, what's to stop me ANRing them forever until it's sold on for pittance?! Can they take legal action if they can't confirm I'm at the address they have?

As ever, comments much appreciated.
