I've managed to get behind on my leasehold property maintainance, the sum of which I am not disputing but what the management company has now done is to hand the debt to a solicitors who are trying to slap their fees on top of the existing debt.ie.£150 if I pay through them the sum,£300 if they they go to mortgage company for payment or more if they take it to court.
I sent them my own notice telling them to show me evidence of contract & my fee schedule,£5000 for getting involved. I have received a letter from them saying "If the arrears are disputed then let us have the details, otherwise & in the event you do not discharge the arrears proceedings will be issued for the recovery within 7 days of this letter."
Should I use the 3 letter system & let that take its course?
Also I wish to settle the debt, should I make an offer to pay the maintainance company so much per month & must they accept this without putting more fees onto the mortgage?
Advice appreciated
