BCW Experian default

Postby dandan82 » Fri Jan 03, 2014 8:41 pm

Hi guys,
This is my first so please don't be harsh with me :? I've spent the last few years trying to fix my credit report and today i checked my report and I have a Default from BCW. This is the only default or adverse thing on my file and I am wondering what to do about it. I've read a few posts on here and there is a 3 letter process, Would this be the thing i should do with BCW.
Thanks in advance for any help/input.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. It says
Account type: Home credit
Default balance: £227
Dafault date: 6/12/2010 Last updated march 2013

I'm guessing its from a provident loan years ago when the lady stopped coming round then i moved house. I've not had any letters or anything though from bcw. its just on my experian file

Thanks
dan

The choices are this;

Leave it as it is and it will fall off your credit file 6 years from the date it was put on there.

Contest it and have a long fight with the DCA

Or make an offer to pay off the outstanding balance on the condition they remove the default

It all depends how much you need that clean credit file

The choice is always yours.

As above, but when you know what to do you will probably ignore & bin for that amount, will not stop other DCA's trying from time to time whatever you do do

Hi

I've been in contact with them and they're trying to get me to pay there and then. I've told them I'll pay the full amount if it will be removed from my file but the rude man on the phone said I had to pay it there and then and that it would be removed from my credit file. Obviously I didn't believe him. Can anyone advise me how to write a letter to them. I'll pay the full amount on condition they remove it from my credit file. I want it in writing that they will remove it once paid in full. Thanks for your help

They're just ignoring me now. Not replying to any emails at all.

Just write to them along the lines of "a family friend is prepared to lend me the money to clear any outstanding debt on account number 1234566 with you, on the condition that you agree in writing to remove the default that is registered on my credit file. Please acknowledge in writing by return of post that you will remove the default from my credit file permanently on payment of the outstanding amount on account number 1234566 by me"

On the top of your letter, write the following ... "I do not acknowledge any debt with your company"

Never admit you owe the money so word it carefully ;)
