Sallie Mae pestering my cosigners

Postby vchampea » Thu Apr 26, 2012 4:07 pm

I finished sending out my letters to Sallie Mae back in October/November. My parents got a call recently. It could have been from a debt collector, or maybe it was directly from Sallie Mae, not sure. In the phone call they threatened to:
-garnish wages
-confiscate tax returns
-take us to court

if I or my parents did not make some kind of payment this month. They said one of my loans would be defaulting this month. I'm pretty sure I've been defaulting on ALL my loans with SM for quite some time now. They tried to get my dad to agree to make some kind of payment. He just played dumb and said he was unaware of what was going on with my loans and that he would need to speak to me about it. They haven't called since.

What's going on here? I haven't heard from Sallie Mae in months. Why all of a sudden are they calling? Is there anything to worry about here?

Ok, that's what I thought. Should I bill them again anyway just to remind them how much they owe me?
