I haven’t paid council tax for 21 years. I moved here and registered and paid for council tax 22 years ago in the July. I paid for a few months and then suddenly received a demand for council tax from April to July and was told I had to prove I hadn’t moved in before July by showing council tax payments from my previous council. I then got a summons, too. I sorted all of that out by paying, didn’t get the money back after proving I had moved in July and told them I would never pay council tax again. And I never have.
Now I’m somewhat older, I’ve started to read up on the general non-payment situation and am starting to lose my nerve. I have more money now and am considering just starting to pay now (hats off to those of you making a stand but age changes things!!!). I think my name is no longer on the bills I get sent but am wondering if I register as having moved in from now, will some bright spark be able to spot that my name was down as a non-payer several years ago and resurrect the debt? Or should I register in a different name and pay them every month in cash?
Why would you want to start paying now?
what ever you do your going to be bringing a s#it load your way, i would keep quite
DO NOT REGISTER NOW, they WILL try to get you for the previous years.
