How Can I Get Out of Debt?

With a simple legislated debt solution you can consolidate all your debts into one lower, affordable monthly repayment. Make one set payment per month for a set period, and after the period expires any remaining debts left are legally written off. This can be up to 90% depending on your circumstances.

Moorcroft home visit

airsax asked:

Despite all the things I’ve learned here, and the success I’ve had seeing off every DCA and debt buyer so far, I’ve been a bit lax with the latest stuff from Moorcroft, mostly due to a huge workload and not getting around to starting the three letters. Anyway, I’ve just been ignoring them, but now I have a letter stating that the matter has been passed to their “home collections department”. I’m assuming that this is a bluff as they seem to be a family firm operating over 200 miles from where I live, and I seriously doubt that they have the ability to effect a home call. Add to that, I live in a flat with secure entry and I’m hardly ever home, so I’d say good luck with that! They do of course inform me that their client may be able to offer a substantial discount! They basically want me to make contact to avoid a visit. This is for a credit card taken out in 1996…..

So, my question is: should I reply with a denial of of access (not that I think for one minute that they have the resources to do this), and, if so, how can I word it? I’ll write to them this week one way or another, but this alleged debt is probably unenforceable anyway.

Any advice would be welcome! Two years, and not paid any of these leeches a penny so far 🙂

ausk replied:

Suggesy that you do send the denial of access letter. Also include something this like this:

In future all communications from you to me are to be in writing only as I will not engage in dialogue with you by any other means. Continued unwelcome personal meetings may constitute harassment and unconscionable conduct after having been told that all communications are to be in writing only.

ausk replied:

Yes, send the denial of access letter. Also include something this like this:

In future all communications from you to me are to be in writing only as it is my express wish and intent not engage in dialogue with you by any other means. Continued unwelcome personal meetings may constitute harassment and unconscionable conduct after having been advised that all communications are to be in writing only.

it is normally just a threat,so i have ignored all of mine and when one pitched up i told him i had never heard of myself,i hope he enjoyed the 200 mile return journey !!!!!!!!

airsax replied:

Moorcroft say that I will be receiving a visit from “their local representative” . I have the option to “phone their head office to re-establish contact” to avoid this visit (yeah right!). As I live in a flat I don’t really feel that I can post a denial of access notice on my door. It’s second floor with an entry phone but people keep leaving the communal door unlatched so he could theoretically gain access through there and end up outside my door. I work late that day in any case, so I’m planning to simply not be home. Is this “local representative” a bluff? He has a very amusing sounding name, and my attempts to find him in the phone book or Google drew a blank. I’m writing to them today with a denial of rights of access and a request for all correspondance to be in writing. Is there now a modified version of letter number 1? I have a feeling that there was but I can’t find it at the moment.

williams2583 replied:

don’t get excited, its all a threat and anyway Moorcrap act usually as agents and cant do sweet fa, and if you do bump into them the (never heard of him) works well, did any way with Robson Way,pity he had driven 150 miles from MANC LAND ,AND EVEN WORSE GUESS WHAT HE WAS ON COMMISSION ONLY – POOR SOD

airsax replied:

Cheers, I’ll let you know what happens! Have sent letter 1 and denial of access which they should have received by now 😀

airsax replied:

Well, I was out most of the day, but no calling card or any sign he showed up 😀

williams2583 replied:

They dont have local reps anyway unless they are referring to Scotcall who seem to have gone quite anyway !!

airsax replied:

Well, letter from Moorcroft confirming that they will correspond in writing only as per my request, along with the usual “We get these letters……that are available from various websites…….quoting from Step change “We’ve never seen any of these solutions work”……They keep trying 😆

Just timewasters

airsax replied:

just got a letter from Robinson way (having started the three letters process with moorcroft). it’s just a statement of (alleged!) account though, and they have never been involved until now. does this mean moorcroft have passed it back, or sold it? Are R.W agents or buyers? it doesn’t ask for payment strangely enough?

Tiggy replied:

Agents, who does it say they are working on behalf of ?

airsax replied:

Hi Tiggy, it says that they are acting for the original creditor.

Tiggy replied:

Nothing to get excited about, OC’s tend to pass around different agents before selling the debt on, it’s the debt purchasers that are the most likely to start proceedings so I wouldn’t worry too much at the moment.

williams2583 replied:

Pass the parcel time around dcs is great its just what you want, sure sign they don’t have the evidence and as agents once again advise – TO IGNORE;love it in a previous post the dc said the site does not work – well i cleared 8+ debts and about 85 k ++ so tell me it does not work !! ,nnb the official settlement % with dcs as said b4 is 18% so 82 % of debtors succeeded most by using sites and defending .

airsax replied:

Well, the letter arrived from Moorcroft today informing me that they have passed the account back to the initial creditor, so that’s why I’ve just heard from Robinson way. Should I continue the three letters with Moorcroft (only up to number 2 right now) or can they now safely be forgotten? I take it I need to start the process with R.W now, so the game continues 😀

williams2583 replied:

Forget Moorcrap and ignore Robbers Way they are only agents, why waste postage and printing

Lost replied:

Just for clarification purpose. RW are agents only able to act on behalf of its principle who are hoist, so does this mean that the OC has sold it to hoist for RW to act as agent, or are RW permitted to operate as agents for others beside their principle?

Tiggy replied:

RW work for banks as well not just Hoist.

Lost replied:

That would answer my received letter 😆

Thanks
